Does anyone have copy of the book by Victoria Roberts - Diseases of Free Range Poultry? I've heard it mentioned a few times and wondered if you would recommend it? I've got a couple of beginners-type books, but I've had my fair share of poorly hens in the past month and didn't find much to help me in them. Yes, I know there's this forum, but I don't always like to look stoopid Smile !

Sorry don't have the book, but just wanted to say - the only way to look stupid here is not to ask when you need answers. We all try to help each other, it's that kind of place! Very Happy

Hi Dixie. I have this book myself and it is most useful you can buy it for £15.99 on Amazon if that helps.

I've had it since the first edition and it's absolutely brilliant. I still rely on a lot of the old books for 'country cures' but I can quote her if need be to a vet as of course, she is a vet, and is not afraid to recommend unorthodox treatment

Well I've found it to be a very good bedtime read Laughing ! Seriously, it is very readable with loads of useful information in easy to understand language - what I mean is you don't have to be a vet!!!!

I certainly don't think it could ever replace a trip to the vet with a poorly chook, but at least my next visit will see me a bit more informed than before. So thumbs up from me Smile

I've just bought a copy of this - on the recommendation of my vet (who only deals with poultry). I do think the title is a little misleading - as it covers an awful lot more than just diseases. So much more helpful than the small sections in the other books I have (Starting with Bantams etc), practical and informative. Definitely worth having on the shelf.
