Clean and sterilize the incubator and egg trays.
Ideal room conditions are 70°F(21.1°C) - 75°F(23.8°C), on an inside wall. Keep incubator away from drafts and out of direct sunlight.
Fill pans with warm water (100°F± (37.7°C)). Let the incubator warm up for 3 days.
Place the thermometer 1" above the wire mesh in tray.
If the temperature goes below 98°F (36.6°C) when the light goes out, the thermostat needs adjustment.
Place the fertile eggs in the incubator.
Do not change the temperature. The eggs are cool and will take a few hours to warm up.
Maintain the temperature at about 102°F (38.8°C). In general, overheating is more critical than underheating.
Always refill the pans in the incubator with warm water.
Turn eggs 3 times each day, rotating them once a day.
On day 19, turn the eggs once and rotate them once. Fill pans with warm water and add wet sponges to the pans.
Close the incubator and DO NOT OPEN until the baby chicks hatch!
DO NOT move the baby chicks to the brooder until they are completely dry! Usually between 10 and 24 hours to dry completely.
If you would like a working copy of the calendar...please PM me with your email address and I will forward it to you. It will arrive in a Microsoft Excel format.
