| in discussion with other chook crazy folks and this question came up.............which is the quietest breed in Lf and bantam..........no other criteria just quietness ..............my chioce Barbie d Anvers in bantam but not sure about LF maybee wyandotte...............please post your two selections marking LF or B thanks .............mojo |

well the only bantams I've got are pekins
the quietest of the LF that I have are the appenzellers |

I haven't had experience of any breeds other than those I've got now, but out of those (Croad Langshan, Pekin, OEGx, all bantams, Araucana and Marans), the only one that hardly ever makes a noise is the Pekin.
Probably because she's right at the bottom of the pecking order and is just too scared to open her mouth  |

seriously i would say the indian game in large fowl i had a cock bird for 5 yrs and my neighbours didn't know , other than that i understand a lot of the eastern game breeds (shamo types ) crow long and low and are good built up area candidates . In bantams my pekin cock is pretty quiet you have to listen to hear him 8 feet from the bedroom window  |

| My silkie and marans hens are the quietest I've had so far. The noisiest is a little pekin/poland cross. A real 'shrieker!' |

My Wyandotte LF is very quiet- Dont have Bantams so cant say.
My noisiest are my blackrocks, Rhode stars and Cream legbar - I think the whole neighbourhood are now aware I have chickens 9who needs a register!!!! |
