yet again the power went off. 6 hours later it has finally come back on. I am now dreading candling my poor eggs. I kept them as warm as I could but I'm not very hopeful. Got the stove going as high as I could and wrapped the bator in towels
The four chicks that hatched in the last couple of days have moved to the broody.
Mrs white (number 1) had 3 chicks now she has 7.

I AM SO P****D OFF.
The eggs that are in now are the replacements for when the cat knocked the bator top off. And some of them I am doing for someone else as well.

It's amazing isn't it, so many people having power cuts at this time of year. You sort of expect it when we have gale force winds, but in April...doesn't seem right some how. I hope you get some to hatch. I think I read somewhere else that someone had the power off for a whole 12 hours overnight and she still had a 50% hatch rate. So, hopefully you'll get at least that.

The school duck eggs were without power for a couple of hours the day after they were set, we're hoping when we candle later in the week that they will be OK.

I hope they have got through O.K.

I have read of times when eggs have gone cold for quite a while and still hatched.

Just candled them.
The hen eggs that are over half way seem to be ok.
Jess's pekin eggs all had blood rings Sad
The ducks seem to be ok as well, it's too early to candle the last lot that I put in though
the goose has pipped now so that one is definitley ok.
off to ebay now for some more pekins. She is not impressed.

Poor Jess, so sorry, do you think it was the power cut, or maybe they would have been like that anyway?
Sad

Sorry, I guess they're so small, so maybe more susceptible to temp change, less body to sustain the heat?
