I went out yesterday afternoon and had a horrible drive through Newmarket and out the other side.Horrible roads to Newmarket, Horrible Newmarket always congested and traffic lights every 50 yards. Anyway, what I went for was a trio of Dutch bantams and a quartet of welsumer bantams. The lady didn't really know anything about the colours, she said she had some mismarked dutch and some gold ones. I went and discovered she had indeed got gold partridge but also blue partridge (deep joy) and 2 what she thought were mismarks were in fact blue yellow. So I got a blue yellow cockerel, a gold partridge pullet and a blue partridge pullet. Spent this morning happily moving cocks and pullets about. She only charged me £6 for the trio. And the welsummers were only £8 the quartet. Bird flu scare prices? ANyway I was delighted and it was worth the horrible drive. It will have been worth the chilblains too as it was so bitter cold there and I hadn't put my wellie socks on. I couldn't feel my toes and had to put the car heater on them on full blast for 15 minutes before I got any feeling back.
Will take some pictures tomorrow.
All I need in Dutch now is cuckoo ,black and millelfleur Smile and those will be arriving this year sometime.
