Don't know if this is the right place for this but here goes. One of my hens (Francis) is really aggressive towards one of the others, I saw her this morning on the back of Dot pecking her head which has happened quite alot but normally Dot manages to free herself and theres no damage done, however, this morning blood has been drawn and I am worried that now this has happened Francis will be more aggressive than ever. I have bathed the wound with aloe vera juice and isolated Francis in a large pen much to her annoyance as she can see the others free ranging in the rest of the garden. Has anyone got any advice on how to stop aggression.
I wait anxiously.

I think best advice is to keep the bully away from the others for a while, let the remaing chooks decide the new pecking order, when the bully is re-introduced, you may find she will be at the bottom of the pecking order !!
Good luck ! |

if possible use something to cover the wound like stockholm tar or purple wound spray, chickens are attracted to the colour red and you may find others will start pecking at the wound.
I agree with Knobby separating the bully is a good idea |

Thanks Aussie Chick, have sprayed her, shes now got an awful purple head, I've got purple hands, and we've put the bully culprit in solitary! We'll keep them separated for a few days and see what happens. |

| I feel so sorry for Dot, but hopefully she'll recover before the bully gets back in. Hopefully by then Francis will have learnt that she isn't top hen any more |
