|
|
Hi - can anyone tell me how to make automatic waterers from old plastic bottles? I gather they are inverted into the hanging basket, tub, etc, but there must be more to it, as the water just gushes out, rather than drip drip dripping.
Thanks, peeps.

Hi suse,
The water level in the base has to be high enough to create an air seal, and also secure enough that knocking it doesn't break the seal, then when the water level in the base drops enough, it breaks the seal for long enough to refill to that level
(not sure if that makes sense) |

It sounds like you mean for watering plants (correct me if I'm wrong).
I don't know how to make them but I think it is either Kleeneze or Betterware that sell things to go on the top of the bottles so the water drips out slowly. |

Have you solved your watering problem yet?
What I do is cut the bottom off the bottle. leave the cap on, pierce a few holes around the shoulder, invert to required depth, fill with water. Once the soil is wet enough then the water should just drip through. Refill as required (normally everyday till soil is wet then just once a week/fortnight depending on local heat conditions.
Hope this helps
