| I could do with some advice please, i have a couple of my hens with yellow runny poo, looks like baby poo, is a bit smelly as well and the affected birds have dirty bums. i have no idea what has caused this,or if it is likely to affect all the birds.i did a few days ago put them on a different brand of layers pellets they are now on organic, i don't know if this could of affected them.appart from this they seem well i have 6 of them laying, would it be a good idea not to eat the eggs. i have been keeping them in more as it has been so wet but they are cleaned out every day. i am at a total loss as to what it could be, can anyone give me some advice please. thanks |

| sometimes just changing the brand of food can upset their stomachs a little, i wouldn't worry unless it continues for more than a few days |

| I'd go for the diet change explanation too. I get poo like that from mine every so often, with 21 birds there's often some yellow poo around - but if I take notice it's not always the same bird. I've stopped worrying about it as the birds seem otherwise healthy. So long as it's not one bird continuously. |

I agree with above.
I have 18 chooks and they seem to take it in turns to have yellow or caramel coloured pooh! |

Could be the feed, but also in Gail Damerows` book is a list of the following COMMON disorders as causing yellow or yellowish droppings:
chronic respiratory disease, colibacillosis.
Are there other symptoms? |

| No nothing else, just yellow runny poo & wet bums, there are only a couple like it, they are still eating for England and behaving normally |

Hi! I just joined this forum tonight so I hope you don't mind me butting in.
When-ever I change my chooks pellets I always mix 1 bag of the old with one bag of the new. This gives them time to adjust to the new food. My chooks are also fed plenty of green scraps (which I get from the veg stall at the market) and food scraps from a local restaurant. I rarely get "yellow bums".
I now live in France where our growing season is at a slightly different time from England. Last year I did get "yellow bums" when the new grass started growing.
