Fefe was in a really bad way yesterday - really struggling to breathe and you could hear the rattling of her breath was really loud. I didn't know what to do with her, I brought her in and watched her for a couple of hours but she was just getting worse, so I took her to a vet in Bedford.
I thought they would just give her an injection of antibiotics and send us away, but they wanted to keep her in and give her a nebuliser of steriods and antibiotics and see how she went. She said it could be pnuemonia(sp) or lung worm.
They phoned this morning and she had done really well overnight and was much much better. They gave her an antibiotic injection and sent us home with a little bottle with more antibiotics to give her over the next few days.
It cost me an arm and a leg but what a caring service! |

hope she continues to do well
Good Luck
it's always nice to hear of a vet who takes as much care of hens as they do other animals |

Sorry to hear Fefe has been so poorly Glad to hear she's on the mend.
Scotts are very good chicken wise (went there with my first sick chook before I found a vet I liked in MK).
Get well soon Fefe!! |

| Sorry you had a sick girl but pleased she seems to be on the mend. It was nice you had a vet that understood chickens are pets as well as cats and dogs! |

Just an update on Fefe.
I kept her penned in my office for a day or so but she was so much better that I think she was going a little stir crazy and I found it impossible to keep her confined unless I kept her shut in my cat carrier cage. It is big enough for two cats but I didn't like to keep her caged like that so I put her back out with the others. Fingers crossed but she and the others are all still fine *touch wood* Not that I'm superstitious or anything! |

Oh that does sound good news I would think if she's feeling well enough to kick up a fuss to get back to her ., then she must well and truly be on the mend - excellent!! |
