| That is good news - certainly things seem to have gone off the boil in the press recently. |

Don't worry,
I'm sure that once Christmas and New Year pass it will become a bird flu fest, in the press (oh my God that rhymed) as it is dead press time in Jan.
It is truly amazing how it seems to have completely dropped of from the media attention prior to Christmas, only 2 reports on it from what I have seen and that was over the last week.
One of my local papers stated the DEFRA request for registration of 50 birds plus, with an underlying implying sentence that everyone should declare regardless of numbers and that if people knew of small domestic keepers they should let the local authority know!!!

I think that's what it will come to. Being reported by your neighbours. Vets will have to reports and poultry patients.
Come back George Orwell all is forgiven. |

Won't affect us as we have nowhere near 50!
Will wait to see if they bring in measures for smaller, backyard flocks before doing anything rash like volunteering information unnecessarily. |

| To me it reads like for only commercial premises not backyard keepers. I know of a few on here who have more than 50 but they are not commercial. They have the chickens for the pleasure of it not the profit. |

| That's what i thought too Summayah, it does make it sound like you have to be a commercial enterprise to be included. |

| In Scotland we'll probably have to wait for the Scottish Executive to hum & haw till London tells them differently. |

| I believe it is 50 or more (even if you only have that number for 1 day a year) on commercial site. If you keep all eggs, birds and meat for yourself and don't give away/sell any you do not have to register. |
