Mmmmm where shall I start!....in fact do you know any marmalade recipes? I love it very thick cut. I think i just need to get a temp thing to make sure it is getting hot enough?
Back to jam ~ raspberry, apricot, strawberry ~ all same recipe or different ones? |

i make all my own jams and don't bother with a sugar thermometer just a cold plate in the fridge, just make sure you have a v.large saucepan before you start or things get very sticky.
i have never made marmalade as a lady in the village makes that and i don't want to set off preserve warfare at the farmers market i also do chutneys.as for the recipes i will post them in the recipe section for you as soon as possible, |

I make jams ,chutneys, fruit curd etc etc A very good book for anyone who wants to get into it is: Preserving by Oded Schwartz
It tells you exactly what you need to do for all sorts of preserving |

I make my own strawberry jam it can be a b###er to get to set but tastes fab, I just keep boiling till i get it thick enough
to spread.
ingredient
1lb/450g strawberry's
1lb/450g sugar
a little lemon juice
heat sugar until it softens
add strawberry and lemon juice boil rapidly till setting point is reached
add to hot sterile jars try not to eat to much as its really fattening!!! |
