we had a loman brown lay a wrinkly egg today ,it was covered in blood daughter phoned at work asking what to do she's cleaned her backside up an sparyed on some purple spray ,she's indoors in the bath in a cage (no water in the bath just the safest place ) ,it's not a prolapse ,any ideas of anything to help seems to be eatting and drinking fine

Suz,

It could be a number of things. Could have been an egg bound issue, causing tears in her lining which would explain the blood. It could be a side effect of Myco and maybe the only symptom that bird will show from it, the roughness of the egg causing the tears to form, hence the blood.

I would keep her seperate, just so that you can better monitor her actions and know for sure which eggs are hers and what type of stress she is under while trying to lay.

If the blood does not stop (smears and such...not gushing of course) within 4 days...then start to worry.

It may just be a weird fluke...sometimes they just like to throw a curve ball to make sure we are paying attention I think. Wink

normal egg today ,no blood .
