My hens are on a concrete slap based run. Its very mucky and Ive scraped it up with a shovel.
Is there anything i can use to disinfect/clean it, or is it best just to leave it as it is.
Thanks |

| If it's just for the concrete slab I'd use Jeyes fluid. It's a good disinfectant. Just be careful using it around the hens as it's not good for them. |

| All excellent solutions ~ I would also consider putting WOOD chips down on the concrete after you have cleaned it so the girls have something to peck amongst. They just love tossing the stuff around looking for tasty morsels! |

I'm in the process of building a 17 x 25 x 6ft run (fox proof) so its not worth me buying the wood chips. Instead I've been using leaves (with a huge oak in the garden they are plentiful) to keep the hens occupied. Once it gets covered in poo it nicely goes on the compost heap
Thanks for the idea though, and ill be getting some Jeyes fluid :p |
