That is a really great way to start a flock....you have a good selection there...nice range of eggs.

With you starting from eggs your first egg is going to be a massive event!

True Gina,

But do you mean, first egg hatched or first egg laid?

Either way it will be a big event I guess
All the best

what an excellent way to get an in~house flock ~ no outsiders, less risk of something nasty coming in. Keep us updated, with piccies of course ~ hope it goes well

I didn't realise that you had eggs cooking either George.
I didn't count the first 12 hours. Mine began to hatch on Day20, from my calculations, they were pipping when I got home at 1600hrs. I had put them beneath broody at 1800hrs 21 days before, so I culd have counted from that moment.
Maybe a broody gets it more right than an Incubator.
Will look forward to see photos, but first to hearing you pacing and looking, pacing and looking and losing sleep Wink

I meant first egg layed but both will be a big event....

I know from even buying my chickens in at POL and then waiting for that first egg the excitment was second to none!....but if I had had the hens from eggs and hatched and watched them grow well that first egg will be fab!

I'm doing that already, back and forth to the incubator to check it's still the right temperature and humidity Rolling Eyes

There's getting to be quite a deep groove in the carpet between the computer and the other end of the living room
