Hi Everyone

I've been keeping chickens for over 1.5 years now and love it - currently have 10 chickens and 1 cockerel. However my husband has accepted a job abroad which means we're going to have to move and I can't take the chooks with me. I couldn't bear it if I have to put them down so would love it if someone could adopt them. They are all different (silki, brahma, orpington, poland, aracuana etc etc) and very friendly - all named to suit their personalities / breed. (eg Elvis is the Poland, Sumo is the Brahma)

Fingers crossed someone can help

Hi Sadmum. Bummer that you have to get rid of your birds because you can't take them with you.

I can't help with the adoption, as I am in the US. But I can say that no matter where you move to, you can take this forum with you and you could always get some more girls to have around. Wink

Hi They are all LFs (I think) - at least they are not bantams but normal sized birds - although Sumo is big girl

Hi Susan
I was going to wait until after winter to expand my flock - but could be tempted (easily!!!)

Would you consider meeting half way - I'm in East Yorshire.

What colour are your Silkies Orps and Araucanas?

Hi

I would meet half way if you are keen

The silkie is black (called Poodle),
the aracuana (Molly) is lavander
the cockerel (Harry) is aracuana as well so you could breed them - he's lavander as well),
the orpingtion (Daphne) is brown (can't remember the technical colour!), the Poland (Elvis) is speckled brown
the vorveck (Frenchie) is brown with black head
the brahma (Sumo) is a pheasant one (I think!)
the Rhode Island Red (Red - very original...) is Red...
The maran (Molly) is black and white
Lisa is a white one which I think is called a beechwood blue
Morag was born from a aracuana egg but doesn't lay blue eggs - more pinkie so no exactly sure what she is

They range from 1 1/2 to 18 weeks old - we've bought some, hatched some from eggs we got from a breeder

Will take see if I can post some pics

Hi again Sharon

I am certainly interested in adopting some of your chooks!
I have just lost Makosi my black silkie so Poodle would be a great replacement.
I also lost one of my aracaunas and have been looking for a friend for Lynden (my female) and if I took Harry as well they should make a nice trio. What does Morag look like?
I could also take Molly and Daphne as I have still got bags of room.
Pics would be fab - thank you.

If you have an account on the web somewhere to host pics, then just follow the directions in the golden nuggets area. If you need a place to host them, I could upload them to my gallery space for you, but you would have to email them to me first.

Oh Sharon

So sorry honey, it must be torturous for you.
Non poultry keepers just can't understand how you can get attached to them and know all their little ways.

Sumo can come too Surprised)

You can email me directly with pics and details for pick up etc.
