One of my hens, Edwina, seems a little ill at the moment. She seems much less lively than usual, and this morning I noticed she had VERY runny poo - almost water. She's also been losing feathers, but i just put that down to seasonal moulting. She's eating and drinking, but she's just not very energetic. Any ideas??? |

| Maybe she's having a heavier moult than usual and it's run her down a bit, is she having ACV 2% in the water? That might help to perk her up a bit. |

Might want to do a check for mites.

She seemed a bit better today, and has stopped moulting. I've checked for mites, not found any. Maybe she was just having a bad couple of days. My fingers are crossed that she'll get better. |

Edwina's got worse. She's lost weight, and she's losing feathers again. What's wrong with her???? I wormed them recently so it's not that. Anyone know what's wrong??????? |

Any other symptoms? I would call the vet in the morning and make an appointment to get her on a broad spectrum antibiotic at least.

| agree with Deb, get her to the vets, whatever it is she doesn't seem able to pull herself up from it. Good luck. |

We suspect she's just getting old. When mum and dad bought me the chooks, the guy that they bought them from didn't say how old they were, and one of the others we got from him died about 8 months ago, because she was eggbound, and we didn't realise it early enough. We suspect he gave us his worst chickens. (we love them anyway, of course.) Edwina hasn't laid any eggs for ages . She seems happy enough, she's eating and drinking fine, but she's just lost weight (and feathers) and she seems very pale. I'm going to get an antibiotic, and some ACV today, hope it'll help. Fingers crossed |
