| When I was delousing my girls (we've got 3), hubby and I noticed that Rosemary (a bluebelle) had quite a dirty vent, looked very scraggly and had a reddish lump there. Is this normal or are we missing something quite major? |

| Hello Mel and welcome. Sorry I can't offer any help at all, but I think if one of mine had something like that I'd be off to the vet ~ just because I would have no answers as to what was the cause. |

Is the redish lump big or on the smaller size?
Is it in a spot that is featherless?
I've heard of ingrown hairs...but what about ingrown feathers? |

Deb, Thanks for reply. the lump is about inch across. it is actually around the vent and at present there are no feathers there. our other 2 chickens are a different breed and re fully feathered around the same spot so we can't really compare. Are thinking of a visit to the vets |

Hello Mel, as I said previously I would go to the vets, do you have any locally who are poultry friendly (and knowledgeable about chickens).
Let us know what you decide and what the outcome is, hope it's soon sorted out for you and Rosemary |
