Also splitting and replanting my chives now. (Chinese chives)
Am splitting one clump back into the ground with leaves and seed heads left on. I will collect seed from these and also leave the flowers on to dress salads etc... Also are nice border flowers.
One clump will be split for a container. These will be trimmed back to about 5cm from the soil and should resprout within a few months for early in the year ....
Also taking a few indoors for the kitchen sill. These will need to be left out until after the first frost. This allows a short dormant period so that they think it is spring when taken in and go crrrrrrazy for xmas.

I love gardening like that - trying to get as much as you can all year round and using using as much of a plant as you can too - like the flowers on salads...
