thanks for the new link ~ now all I need is to understand what they're saying. The one thing I did note was that they're going to do a trial run for an outbreak in June 2006 ~ does that mean they don't think it will get here before then? I would have thought if it's coming it will be when our own migratory birds return from the places that have it i.e. spring time. Does anyone else have any thoughts on it

my dad was reading it over my shoulder ,he was saying that it might be building up stuff that we need to be aware of ,
and setting up the paper work so that if it hits they can say we need to do it now and it will not be such a shock to the system ,he might be wrong dontknow

The Greek scare has turned out to be just that... a scare... What concerns me is the medias frenzy towards this, it is quite unbelievable.

I read in one of the tabloids on Monday a double page spread about 50,000 dying on the streets of Britain because of the flu and they painted an apocalyptic picture of schools closed, empty streets, bodies everywhere.... It was a disgrace and they should be called to account in my opinion.

Every year 20,000 people die from flu in Britain.... so yes 50,000 is bad.... but come on, lets have some perspective and sanity about this. And the figures they are giving they are plucking out of the air, they have no idea, the same as they have no idea if it will ever happen!!

I am not really reading much about it, as i feel so much is assumption and projection. I would rather wait and see what happens and then deal with it accordingly. It seems that the media has nothing better to talk about currently. Part of me wishes that Sadam's trial hasn't now been adjourned for 6 weeks, it may have pushed this scaremongering off the headlines for a while Confused

Totally agree ~ first it was hyped up as coming like tomorrow comes and just as soon ~ then some other news came along so it went on the back burner ~ obviously there is no headlining news at present so it's being hyped up again.
I only know what I've read on here and I can't seem to get too excited about it right now. If and when it is found closer like maybe France or Spain then I might start to think seriously about what to do with my girls ~ but for now they can enjoy themselves, free ranging the garden.

there is a lot of hype ,but because we live in area where we have lots of migrating birds ,garden was full of birds last year that had come from higher up ,i've built my pens ready ,
don't know if this is any good but i'm using old pallets ,thin wire on outside and on inside and solid roof ,
i really wish i had done it sooner the pallets work as a wind break and they don't get rained on an no eascaping and eatting all my plants ,
if it coming i'm doing my best if it doesn't my birds are still happy ,i have been following it because a lot of the birds we get here come from russia ,
