 Herbert my very newly acquired bantam cockerel is passing blood. It cold be the trauma of coming to a new home (a friend gave him me ) but obviously I am very worried as we have all taken him to our hearts already-he is such a sweetie. has anyone else come across this before?? He seems to be eating and rinking fine and doesn't look down in the dumps???  |

Hi daisy.
Are you sure it's blood he's passing? And is it every time he goes? Is there any chance of a photo? (lovely subject, but may make any sort of diagnosis easier!)
Do you have any other chickens? If so the first thing would be to isolate Herbert.
Has he been wormed? Any other symptoms?
The more you can tell us the better we will be able to help. But you may be looking at a trip to the vets.  |

Hi chicken palace, I am pretty sure it is blood and I would say in my very un- expert way that he isn't forming proper poos either. I will try and get a photo tonight and post tomorrow. I did wonder if he was constipated and had break through diarrhoea with associated blood???
I have one other chicken, Henrietta and I will also phone the friend I got Herbert from to see if she has any idea of the problem and if she has anymore with symptoms similar to Herbert.
I haven't wormed him but will check that out tonight as well.
