| When treating a Chicken with Tylan Soluble for max 2 days. Is it correct you can NEVER eat the eggs at all ? If correct then why use ? but we can eat cattle and pigs that have been treated with Tylan. |

| Yes, I heard that if they have that you have to destroy 7 days eggs, but don't know how true it is. I guess it's a much stronger drug than baytril. |

Well I gave 0.5mg in water once for 2 days to 3 Orpington Buffs at point of lay. That was over 2 weeks ago. I have now collected from them 12 eggs that are huge and feel bad that If I can never eat them what a waste. But as I said pigs are given it to bulk them up and make ready for market, cattle also ?? Turkeys to bulk them up for market. I guess one day somebody ate an egg from a treated hen and was unwell, now the company does not want to be prosecuted so they say no just in case.
Also why was I advised to give them this treatment if this was the case ?
one just had a bit of a cough that she did now and again, and I mean a bit !! |

Well today I got my answer from a poultry vet. At the Autumn show at the Showground at Peterborough.
I should give Tylan for 5 days. 2 days is no good and the hen will build up an immune system to the drug. After this stop the Tylan, wait 3 weeks as a withdrawal period of the drug.
Presto ! the eggs then can be eaten.
This was also backed up from a poultry rearer at the same show at a diffrent time and conversation.
