I have been peering at my chick's nether regions to see if it is a girl or boy. Does the vent come above or below the anus?!

The vent is also the anus. Eggs and poo come out of the same hole Shocked Cockerels and hens have no sex organs to differentiate, the cockerel has no "tackle" Very Happy

A Capon is a castrated chicken rooster. In this procedure the testes of the rooster are completely removed; a surgical procedure is required for this as its sexual organs are not external.

How do they ermm (thinks of a way to put it tactfully so it won't be sent to the sewer) fertilise the eggs if it's all internal ?

No...it is not. We are discussing chicken behavior here, not human behavior. Wink
