| A while since I did this but if memory severs correctly take the top off, clean out the inside then cut the face. It's near impossible to cut a face with all the seeds in. |

| Take off the top, take out the insides to make a lovely pumkin pie (I assume they're lovely, but never eaten them) and the cut in the face. |

Yep thats right. If you want it last for ages, you should cut it off the vine with about 3 inches left ( for the handle), then leave it in a warm place for 10 days then a cooler place. The skin will go hard, cut off the top, scoop out the inside and slice a face into it.

Pumpkin pie is ok
pumpkin soup however is yummy especially roasted pumpkin with melting cheese - but not so easy to do that when scooping the flesh out to make Jack O' lanterns |
