Hi all think my broody is on day 13, and i have thought of another couple of things i need to know.
as I'm feeding the broody on mixed corn and the chicks on crumbs, will the chicks attempt to eat the corn if so will it harm them, if it will how do you keep this from happening do i just put crumbs out and let mum eat that, is there enough nutrients etc for mum ....................HELP
Also i use straw everywhere so it is even in my nest box, is this a bit course 4 the chicks, or not |

When she's hatched the chicks, meanwhile corn is good for energy and keeping her heat up. |

Sorry, I'm only repeating what I was told by another ancient hen keeper (duck ) when Blue was sitting. He said mixed comrn would provide more energy, so that's what she had. Since she wasn't eating much, it made sense to me. I'm sure ancient French man will correct me if I'm wrong. Once the chicks are hatched, then she can go back to normal diet.
Now I'm unsure too |

| My broody used to come out of the nest once a day and had a drink, a poo and a dust bath. I'm not sure that she got anything to eat. I used to put corn into her nest box morning and evening to make sure she kept her strength up. Once the chicks hatched I put chick crumbs in the house and used to give her corn as well. |
