I have been collecting my eggs from chickens and putting them one by one in my little incubator. I had 7 eggs in there, the earliest dating 04/09/05 and the latest 10/09/05. Last night, my beautiful husband turned it off because the light was upsetting his movie-watching! Hence, when I came down this morning my eggs are cold. Sad

Is there any point carrying on with life? Is there any point carrying on with this batch of incubation?

My incubator is just a cheap one that only has a temperature-control, no humidity control etc, will I get any good results?

Oh how sad Sad

I don't know the answer - not hatched any chicks myself. But I'm sure someone will be along soon with an answer for you.

Hugs,
Lisa

Have you turned it back on, they may have survived the drop in temp, and it's worth carry on and maybe candle in a couple of days to see what's what.
Confused
Sorry about your husband, being beautiful is not enough tell him, he needs to be using his brain too Wink

The other thing is, have you had the Inc on all the time you were adding eggs? If so, it will be difficult to determine where each egg/chick is in the 21 day cycle. If this lot have failed (sorry). The the next lot you should keep together in a cool room, and only when you've finished collecting, put them all in together. That way, they'll be hatched around the same time and make candling etc easier Very Happy
Sorry, if I have misunderstood, that's just how it reads Wink

Hello, this is beautiful husband here. The only reason I unplugged the incubator was that my stupid wife had positioned it on top of my amplifier, and every time the light came on, the whole home cinema would trip!!

That's a shame, she called you beautiful and you call her stupid Confused

Maybe you could have moved it and plugged it in somewhere else? Confused
Hope she has turned it back on, as you never know, they may survive. Good Luck Very Happy

Oh dear, marital strife amongst poultry keepers! Crying or Very sad

Maybe you could agree about where the incubator could be sited for next time if this batch fail.

It is possible that they may have survived the temperature drop & I hope you turned it back on as soon as you realised. Only time will tell.

Good luck! Wink

please dont squabble.just agree the right place to put it in the future..........then collect you eggs store in a cool place point down, reverse position or turn eggs twice a day minimum five times a day max when you have enough to fill incubby write date on eggs in pencil put in inccy and follow directions with it carefully then after seven days candle ,then after forteen days repeat, after that wait till day 25 before you give up..........but with luck natures help and a wee prayer or two you should have chicks...best of luck.........look at golden nuggets post for more info..........mojo Cool
