My over frizzled hen Elvis has been broody for a number of weeks now. I tried constantly to break her, but she just wouldn't budge. I moved her into a cat carrier 1 night, but mum let her out the next mornin and she went back to 1 egg. Today when I went and let the birds out this morning, once al lthe birds (including Elvis) had come out for breakfast, I heard cheaping in the shed. At first I thought it was Pod, as she always crys if let alone in the shed. But to my surprise, there was a little black chick on the floor, looknig for mum.

Elvis is sooo happu, she has never been allowed to hatch a chick before, due to her not havnig many feathers, and being ervy small. But she has 1, shes so proud of herself.

Will get piccies once mum and chick are outside on the grass.

Depends. Could go either way, 50% hatch frizzle and 50% smooth. So could go either way, my guess is on smooth, thats what all my jap crosses have been this year. They all been black as well! And this 1 is another black. Looks like it may be a pullet as well, as there are all ready some flight feathers Very Happy .
