George, thank you So, it really is a case of reducing the numbers in line with each other? I thought I might have to keep the sugar level up |

No idea if you would need to increase the sugar but I doubt it
Just divided everything by 2.29
hope I got it right |

| George, what is your recipe for blackberry vinegar? I've just made some but used blackberries, vinegar and sugar ~ the only recipe I could find on the net. Brilliant stuff ~ my mum used to make it when I was a child if you had a cough you had some. I've had a really rough cough for a couple of weeks, so made some and it's now going, but I think with honey would be even better, as there is healing in honey. thanks in advance George |

I'll try and find the recipe book tomorrow, but basically it is this recipe
Place berries in a crock and cover with malt vinegar; let stand 3 days to draw out juice; place in strainer and allow to drip all day; measure juice and add 1 lb sugar per each pint of juice; place in kettle and boil gently for 5 minutes, removing scum as it appears; set aside to go cold; bottle and cap; to use, combine 1 tsp of the vinegar to 1 glass of water to drink.
Just changing the sugar for honey
Nigel may be able to suggest how much honey = 1lb sugar |

thanks George ~ that's virtually the same as I was using 1lb blackberries to 1pt malt vinegar and then after the 3 days 10oz sugar and boil for 10 minutes.
As you say maybe Nigel or Stephen will know a conversion rateto honey ~ as they are bee keepers as well. |

Hi Nanny P
It's really good to see you are still doing those country things !! The answer to your first question is: anything that's good for you always has a sting in the tail. Blackberry's are great for you and taste good and are Moorish so the stingers are there just for the hell of it.
Things are still very fraught here Dad made the op OK but is very slow to recover. We Graham and I have move them to a new Bungalow that's easier for them but they still wont go from here!!! I do luv em though

Hi Jules, nice to see you here! Glad your Dad is getting better.
How is Hadders? Haven't heard any amusing tales lately. Has she adjusted to being a full-time chicken now? |

Okay, having strained off the liquid, I am left with a load of not so tasty blackberries. Any ideas for using them, it seems such a waste to throw them away. I know I can feed them now and again to the hens, but maybe there is something else?
