just wondered how many layers pellets should they be eating i have two light Sussex and so far i have just been letting them ad lib feed roughly how many cup-fulls should i be giving them a day?

I always try & make sure theyve got plenty of food down....they dont usually gorge themselves on it....they will eat if they are hungry!

I make sure mine never run out. Like Knobby said...thay won't gorge themselves on it. Wink

What you need Sasha, is this

and keep it topped up. They will then help themselves to what they need. Very Happy

Hey !

That's my feeder, though they don't eat that much out of it,

do you think it's because I make them a mash of pellets and warm water (which they adore) that has anything to do with it?

yes i was thinking of getting one of those feeders i have been putting it in a bowl but you know chickens most of it ends up on the floor lol i use a 3 ltr water thing similar to the feeder i was going to get another one to put the feed in but wasn't sure if they are supposed to be able to ad lib feed but know i know thanks again Very Happy

And, if you're able to hang it from the coop roof, so that it is a neck height, they won't throw so much onto the floor Wink

thatis the type of feeder we use and hang it up,sorry nanny but at back height of smallest bird so they can all reach....... definatly stops wastage,,,,,,,best of luck.....mojo Cool
