We have been incubating five appleyard duck eggs which were due to hatch on Thursday.

One hatched Very Happy

Ducky is fine, but a bit lonely.

He bashed a hole in another egg, Shocked which hadn't developed. And so we are left with three. How long do you wait before you decide that they are definitely not going to hatch? Crying or Very sad

Thanks for that. Ducky is gorgeous, just looks a bit lonely. The children have donated some toys and talk to him all the time. (Of course we are hoping he is a she, but it will be a while before we know. Very Happy)

I've heard of putting a mirror in with them so they think they are not alone as well as toys.
Bet (s)he will end up spoilt rotten if your kids are anything like mine Laughing

Thank you! Applause

I will put a mirror in for Ducky. If ever I can't find my lad (called George) he is normally sat with Ducky telling him all sorts of things. Perhaps Ducky has a future as a counsellor! Very Happy
