This morning I finally persuaded one broody to give up Laughing (speckledy)
Still trying with another one Confused (Black Rock)

NOW

theres another Crying or Very sad (light Sussex)
she is sat 4 feet up on the top of the pen I used for the ducklings (chicken wire) with the plastic from a bale of shavings underneath her as a nest Shocked no bedding at all
Think I will give up on this one and let her sit Rolling Eyes Will try and move her later and give her some bedding to make a proper nest with,
don't think I could stand the stress of trying to get another to not be broody Wink

I've just been round the cirlce with 3 of mine, wheaten maran, columbian pekin and buff pekin. Then Monday the buff starts up again ~ so she's the one out free ranging all day, or at least all morning untilI let the others out and then she scurries back in. I'm blocking the nest boxes at night....bearing in mind the are rollaway nestboxes and supposed to deter broodiness. Sadly no-one told my girls and they find them really comfortable, thank you very much. The trouble is she wants to sit where she wants to sit and not in one of the other houses. I don't think I'd want any more eggs setting at this time of year though, especially as we seem to have hit autumn already!

If I wasn't going in hospital and leaving mum in charge she would be getting thrown off, mum doesn't do picking up hens that are likely to peck
