| My run is netted, although only half your size in area. I guess I'll need to add another small coop for some of the birds, so they're not all squashed in and maybe see to the Shetlands sooner. Do you think it was a little alarmist? or do we need to worry? |

Nahh, Heather. That's for his new car!
I will be difficult to net our run completely, and chicken wire will still let the small birds through.
We will just have to hope & pray that it never gets here. |

| I have my pen netted with fruit cage netting, but I usually let the girls free range after lunch time. Maybe they'll have to be penned in for a while....but for how long a while????? |

| Not sure that netting the wild birds out will be enough if it does get here, they seem to be saying that keeping the birds inside will be more protection, not feasible for me - if mine were cooped up all day they would kill each other. It's only a garden shed I have and they would be very uhappy in there. |

how are you meant to keep geese indoors when they are mainly grazers, living on grass?
I could just about manage to keep the hens in - if the roos go sooner than later.
The ducks would hate it but there is just about room for them.
I suppose it depends how long it would last if it does happen over here |

| How much do we trust Defra? Their track record isn't anything to write home about and they always seem to side with the big agribusinesses. Look how they're treating the beekeepers at the moment - lots of very enforcable rules and regulations threatening the small producer and not one new rule makes a damn bit of sense. |

Thought not - a local 'keeper reckons he'll be teaching the vet that comes to inspect him. |
