The Redtop Fly Trap.

Goodbye to flies - The ultimate fly trap!

These are the manufacturers claim. I decided to try one out.

I put it up on Wednesday and I can't argue with them at all. It has cleared the paddock of the flies that have been buzzing round of late. IMO they really do work.

I got mine from Interhatch 01246 264646 ordered on Tuesday delivered on Wednesday - fantastic service. They don't have an online ordering service though. Cost £ 9.99

What the manufacturer claims..

Exceedingly effective.Ideal for smallholders, poultry farms, dairies or anywhere plagued by flies every summer. Low cost, easy to use, disposable. Catches up to 20,000 flies every trap and once trapped they can't escape. Bait is especially appealing to female flies - so reducing the next generation. Simply hang the trap away from the area you wish to protect. Bait lasts up to 12 weeks.

Non Toxic, Hygienic, Ozone Safe, Highly Effective, Easy to use

I'm trying one out in my small garden. The furthest it can go away from the back door is about 9m - less than the recommended 15m away from living areas. It is also just the other side of the chicken run, which also goes against what they recommend (which is to site it away from the area you wish to clear of flies).

Its been up about 3 days now. We can't smell it at the moment, even up close, but the flies obviously can Twisted Evil <evil laugh>...

I imagine we'll need to change ours sooner than some, as others report that it smells more as it fills up with rotting flies, but given everyone seems to say it does such a fantastic job, we don't mind that Razz

The service from Interhatch is excellent - ordered lunchtime one day, arrived in the post the next.

And best of all there are nearly no flies in the house this morning...

Ugghh! These things are disgusting, but, boy do they work!

Ours has a layer 4" thick of dead flies. It smells disgusting so make sure you position it away from pathways etc.

Found it a bit fiddly putting the red top on after filling it, as we didn't want to burst the plastic bag! But we will definately get another one as they work brilliantly.

Yup, definitely worth every penny. I've been showing everyone at work the new one and I think we'll end up putting in an order for everyone Wink

It's our anniversary on Friday, and I bought this for Mark Laughing

It's not romantic, and he wouldn't appreciate a Venus Fly Trap as it doesn't BURP like this one Laughing

Update on using the Red Top fly trap in a small garden..... it had to go, started to smell it from the house Sad as it was only about 8m away max, which is a lot closer than they recommend.

Still, it definitely did its job - over 1/3 full in about a month!

Would definitely use one in a bigger garden. I might even get another one for here - only in the knowledge it would only last one month here before it had to go, not the stated 3 months.

I got one of these things, but not red top ~ an organic one ~ I can't think of the name right now, will look on the box tomorrow. There is no smell, but I still have a few flies. I should read the instructions, because maybe I'm supposed to replace it more regularly.
