Okay, this is what I've done.
We don't have (cannot find) a hot water bottle!
We do have an insulated bag, one used for picnics or to bring frozen food home. In the bottom of the freezer we had a foil, flexible bag full of frozen liquid. I have defrosted it, palced it in very hot water for 5 minutes and it feels like it will hold heat for a while. I have wrapped it around the eggs, along with a thermometer and placed it all in the insulated bag.
I will check on temperature in 30 mins, reheat the foil wrap and continue and place the eggs, back beneath Mum, in the dark tonight. I will then close her in (since she's had the most enormous poo today) and leave her and chicks, locked in with food and water and wait. 25 days, cor, thanks goodness I haven'te gone and let them cool. Laughing
Thanks Mojo, I'll keep you posted Wink

It's not dark, but I wanted to see what she would do.
She's gone back into the Ark now, I put the eggs in front of her and she pulled them back in beneath her Very Happy
I've only managed to keep them at about 31C, so hopefully they'll be okay. I have shut the pop hole.
Thanks for your advice Mojo, I'll be ever grateful.
Now, I wonder how long we'll have to wait?

Mojo, should I leave her locked in during the day too, along with chicks?
Confused

Yup. They will be fine. If it is warm though, I would see about adding some ventillation.

But it's dark in there? I know they're not humans, but it'll be a little boring for them, specially since they came out to play yesterday? Actually, it's okay, I can putthe wire mess door across and keep them in there but with loads of ventialtion and a view Laughing

sorry I'm a bit slow on the uptake sometimes (well most of time if I'm honest). Are the chickens now just in like the nesting area of an ark ~ sort of like a large box with nowhere to go, so mum stays sat and chicks do what chicks do? I'm on a learning curve, I'd love to have chicks so want to learn as much as I can first , thanks for help

Since Nanny P went off for a lay down already Shocked , yes I know, it is only 8am! Sucks to get old. Wink Razz I will answer this for you....

Yes, the mum and chicks are in the nesting portion of the ark. The chicks will roam around and mum will sit and coo to them, letting them explore the ark. The food and water is there by her, so she does not have to get up off of the remaining eggs and she will sit and let the babies play around her. Wink

Ask away, it is the only way to learn.

Admin Note: The two threads have been merged together as they were, essentially, the same thread.
