it's been diagnosed a few times in the last months, normally from imported sheep and cattle ,which seems strange as only livestock that has been vacinated can move over here
but ours is not to question why Wink

Its in bloody Ruthin now!! I ask you, how stupid can you get?? We've only been in the protection zone for a week or so and the stupid idiots are importing!!!! Even if we had all vaccinated the day we got the vaccine, we'd only have a weeks worth of immunity build-up when it takes a minimum of 2-3 weeks to be protected. we have blue tongue over here too Sad There have been 15 cases in cattle and seven in sheep reported between 6 and the 17 of September. All cases are in Halland about 80Km north west of here.

Everything at a standstill, while they finish vaccinating all 25,000 registered animals in a 20Km radius. They will continue working outwards to a 100Km radius over the next 3-4 months. Once the vaccination program is completed the movement restrictions will be lifted. The vaccination program is paid for by the state and all farmers have to do is make their animals available for vaccination on a prearranged day

All this is great but I wanted a buck to come visiting my girls in October... Anyone know anything about AI in goats? I know where I can get some pedigree Norwegian dairy goat semen.

What I can't understand is why can farmers import sheep/cattle without, seemingly, any certificate of vaccination or testing yet we can't move our sheep to a different field without everything in flaming triplicate!!!!! Twisted Evil

from what i can gather and might be totally wrong ,they found anti bodies to the virus ,they were vacinated but have to be tested afterwards and they are showing antibodies thatshow that they have the virus but have not developed it due to being vacinated, although moving animals around to where other animals have not built up the resistance from the vacine is Shocked not to mention the risk of importing btv1 Rolling Eyes

A new case of bluetongue found in Skåne the 20km exclusion zone ends just down the road Sad we are literally on the doorstep.

I expect the SJV [Swedish DEFRA] to contact me to let me know when they'll be coming to do the vaccinations.

It's not looking good for getting my goats in kid. Who knows when it will be safe to move stock again.

The were some new outbreaks in Hörby, a town about 30km away about ten days ago. As there is no connection to the previous case the whole of Skåne has been put on standstill until the vaccination program is completed. I haven't heard yet when they're paying me a visit. For now there is no chance of borrowing a buck to cover my goats. Almost makes me consider having my own if I can find a good one.

At least the government is footing the bill
