I've decided that 14 chickens, in our back garden, pooing for England and crowding round when I venture out of the kitchen is just too much. From the weekend, they'll only have half the garden, and we'll hopefully have a poo free top half of the garden!! No more poo in the yard, on the mat ( for wiping poo off on) and no more poo (bless those baby Shetlands) on our lovely garden furniture!!
We put up a temporary fence when I had my party, the garden looked good and they were fine down one end of the garden. It's time to make this their permanent free range area.

I've ordered some 6 x 3 panels from Little Acre, hope they come soon, and it won't take us long to erect a barrier Laughing Wink

Sam rang me yesterday to say the pooing has to stop!!

He has spent the last two weeks cleaning up poosies ( I normally do it), so he has built a run for the chookies. he also can't believe how long it takes to get the lottie looking good!

Oh well, at least he'll appreciate me more when I return! Very Happy

Did he mention how he was going to manage this? Careful insertion of corks perhaps?

Mine have now been fenced off, with temporary fencing. They are not amused and I was gonna show you some photos, but am having trouble adding them to Gallery, so you'll have to imagine several birds sulking, looking confused and aghast at our audacity and several walking the line, attempting a breakout Laughing
Photos soon Wink

Nah, don't have to imagine it at all, my sulk loads as well, and when the gate's open they try and make a mad dash for the rest of the garden (the bantams seem to like my Dahlias)

I just throw some corn in and that keeps them busy for a while

Wow! Look at that red one! Was that the thrush-like one? My thrush lookalike is a hen - phew!

Wish a fence that height would keep all my birds in - keeps in most but some just have to taste the grass on the other side! Or my newly constructed lasagna herb garden - that's tasty too!

Yes, it is the thrush like one, and looks like he's gonna be a looker, it's such a shame he's gonna be a gonna once he's old enough Confused Sad And after reading a letter in PP, I've decided that it is more likely they will be eaten than given away Sad

I hope it works, and that the run panels I've ordered work, if not I'll have to clip their wings, or try adding to the height. Cool Wink
