And how long are the coq's "useful" for? I'm asking as my original pair both seem to be "past it" already; she's just 2, and he's probably about the same age. It's now about 4 months since she gave us an egg ... and he's in "sick bay" looking ancient, although nothing obviously wrong with him. He never really picked-up again after his mystery illness. Maybe 4 eggs a week at BEST, go off-lay at the drop of a hat. Maybe I haven't got a "good" strain of hen ...
