Hi everyone,
My warren who has been laying for a few months has started shaking her head and is puffed up. She is eating but sits in the run and doesn't seem to have much energy. Pooing ok. Felt under her and can feel an egg waiting to come out but vent not in distress. I have put her in the nesting box on her own and she has stayed there all day. She is normally placid and very greedy (first in line for food) so as its out of character, i know there's something wrong. No unusual noises around as we live in a very quiet place. The vets here think we are mad to worry over a chicken and my usual pet vet says she knows nothing about chickens so thats out of the question. Medicine is also impossible to get here but wondered if i could order something like antibiotis off the internet (also purple spray) which they may send to me. Does anyone know of any sites that do this. Thanks. |

google purple spray and you will come up with a list of sites to buy from.
Head shaking can be a sign of stress or respiratory problems - does she seem to have any discharge from her nose? if her egg still isn't laid by the end of the day try putting her in a warm bath to try and coax the egg out as she could be egg bound. |

Thank you so much for your reply Kitsune, She's a bit better today but walking very slowly and still puffed up. The head shaking is still there but no so much as yesterday. She has gone into the nesting box tonight instead of on the perch with the others so she's obviously not up to the mark yet. I have googled Purple Spray but still can't find any places willing to ship to Spain but will try again tomorrow. Thanks again for your advice. |

| That would be great if you could. I have a paypal account so no problem there. (i hope) If you're sure it wouldn't be too much trouble. Thanks. |
