Hi everyone, just a few photos from my latest trip to Wisley yesterday. Judging Cortaderia (pampas grasses), Aconitum, Kniphofia (pokers) and Chrysanthemum. Managed to sit in almost stationary traffic on the M25 for 45 minutes on the way there, just 5 miles away from Wisley
Cortaderia trial behind the Dahlia trial (which I don't have to look at fortunately )
Aconitum Blue Topaz
Kniphofia linearifolia 'Frances Victoria'
Chrysanthemum 'Moulin Rouge'
Couple of plants in the garden - Actaea 'Elstead Variety' and Hydrangea paniculata 'Pink Diamond'
Oh, and look what I picked up on the way home Millefleur Dutch
Hope the new-fangled photo hosting thing works okay

Lovely photos, and brings back memories as I used to try to visit Wisley 3 or 4 times a year and most of the plants I had in my garden in the UK were from there (all dug out and put in the skip within 6 months of us selling the house and the beds laid to lawn )
I didn't know they had branched out into selling poultry
Lovely colours, do you have the hens to go with him? |

| Wouldn't Pampas make a wonderful boundary hedge given the room. |

Yes it would. I've done loads of gardening today (with it being 27° clear blue sky ) including giving my Pampas a 'haircut' around the edges. It's about 30 years old and it's footprint measures 3 metres across, when it's cut right down in the winter it forms a polo mint shape where it has grown from the inside outwards |

To try and answer the questions...
I picked up a pair of millefleur and a pair of gold (only went for the gold really ) in Essex - I don't think they have any poultry at Wisley, I'll have to have a word about that
I missed apple tasting day unfortunately but they did have some of the fruit from the orchard for sale, came home with cox, norfolk dumpling and Dawn.
Sorry Spana, I don't really know anything about pears beyond the fact that they are either like iron or going rotten Perhaps Brogdale if you are looking for an identification?
BB - I'm behind the camera of course I know what you mean about the distance. Normally when I go down there mum sees to my chooks but she came with me this time so I was out in the pitch dark feeding, watering and letting out before I went - then had to go and shut them all away in the dark when I got back
Some of the newer pampas grasses are a bit smaller and really dense so would probably do the job without taking up too much space - Patagonia, Icalma and Evita come to mind.
Auntie Katie, sorry but I think you'll have to spell it out

Stephen thinks its something to do with our virus protection so OH is going to have a look at it later because I'm on the verge of stamping my feet. |
