A friend has said, that they painted the whole coop with paraffin and that did the trick of getting rid of redmite - they've never come back! Is this really safe? Has anyone else done this? They said too that you can put paraffin on hens cuts and things...

| I'm sure it's ok to use it Autumn - some people dip scaley legs in paraffin to kill the mite so it must be. Not sure if it would prevent red mites for ever though. Nothing seems to do that! |

I've heard of paraffin being used to rid coops of red mite, just don't let the hens loose with matches  |

| I think creosote is highly flammable too, and probably contains parafin, judging by the smell. Once you ventilate well before you let the hens back in they should be fine. |
