when i get my chooks i am planning on letting them have some free range time in the garden but one of the things i am worried about is them eating plants which will make them sick. i think i have just identified a shrub with berries in my garden as a Cotoneaster horizontalis (?) which i don't think will be poisonous but i am not a gardener so am not sure what other plants i may have which may be a problem (specifically looked this one up as it has berries). do chooks tend to have instincts about what to eat and what not to eat?

I've been asking the same.... The answer seems to be hens will not eat poisonous plants if they have a choice of foods... but they might if they are hungry.

I googled 'poisonous plants and chickens' and got a website with a big list.
