Hi,

Was wondering if anyone would be able to help us? We have incubated quite a few eggs from other people in our incubator and they have been quite sucessful, however when we try to incubate some of our own silkie x light sussex they get to a day before they hatch and die! We even hear them chipping then all stops! We have had a couple make it but they all have what looks like there insides coming out of there bottoms or deformed in some way. Would anyone know a reason for this? its very disheartning as most of the eggs are fertile and get to this late stage and thats it.

Any ideas? Anyone?

Thanks

And has your temp been stable? Did you double check your thermometer prior to incubating?

Hi,

Sometimes its the yolk that hasnt been absorbed, so it look like there is a yellow growth on there stomaches and other times its what looks like there insides coming out of there backsides. We had one hatch today, which I had to dispose of, which seemed fine, feet were lovely, chirping away but couldn't walk and had a pink lump coming from its backpasage. the other 10 eggs were all chipping away 2 had piped the others had not, and these were all dead. most looked fine, and some had the same b-hind growths/ the yolk on their stomachs. Never had this before untill this year. Have about 20 more in the incubator all fertile just worrid the same thing will happen to them. Really not sure what to do, these are due to hatch next weekend.

we have a seperate hatcher and incubator both Manio 168 incubators with auto turn cradles. We run the incubator dry with autoturn then put the eggs inthe hatcher on the 18th day, without auto turn and add water with 50-55% humidity 37 degree heat.

We have been told that this is the right way.

So were stuck.

They all hatched fine last year so do not think it is the genetics.

Any ideas?

I run my incubator at 37.4 degrees and 45-50% humidity up to day eighteen then once in the hatcher i keep the temp the same but raise the humidity to 60-65%. Hope this may be of some use to you

Very Happy Hi I had the same thing happen to me with my last hatch. I bought a very strong incubator disinfectant and gave my incubator a really good clean. Some one told me it could be bacteria in the incubator. I did this then I tried not using water at all this time . I have a poly hatch incubator and as you can see every thing went fine this time . Pic of my latest batch all fine and healthy. Had a very good hatch this time . You could give that a try. Good luck . BB
