One of her eyes is badly infected today, closed when I went to the coop. I'm worried, first time chicken owner and she always runs to the door to greet me. I dont know what to do, salt and water? Is it a case that she may have been pecked in the eye, or scratched herself?
I am very worried, was wondering if anyone see's this with their own at all? |

Does she have any other symptoms? Like snicking or sneezing, nasal discharge, or bubbles from her eyes?
If not, she could just have had a knock or even an insect bite. One of my IG chicks had the same a couple of weeks ago, but was still racing around like a loony. Her's must have been a midge bite or something, because she was fully recovered the next morning.
If she has any of the above symptoms, she could well have a respiratory infection, which will involve a trip to the vets for antibiotics.
Good luck |

| Bathe with salt and water & check if the damage is obvious. You can get antibiotic eyes drops from a pharmacict if you fell that is what is indicated. If only one eye is affected & no other symptoms, try that first. |
