i have 2 white star hybrids as new additions to my chickens... they are pullets but already laying when i got them a week or so ago.
they lay white eggs so tis easy to tell them from the others... anyway, one of the white eggs retrieved today has a fair amount of blood on it.
i think it was likely to have been Chrissie whos produced it as i found her lurking in the nesting box this eve at treat/locking in time and shes normally around and about the place and still defending herself againt the others being all bossy coz shes new...
picked her up and had a good look... vent doesnt look bloody, but does look like it may be weeping a small amount of clear liquid... otherwise looks well enough, eyes bright etc... her comb does look a bit less bright today mind...
do you reckon shes been a bit eggbound but has now passed it? or should i prepare myself for finding her dead in the morning  ?? |

| This is quite normal with newly laying pullets. Just think ouch. In due course things settle down. |
