Buttered 2pt casserole dish
6 slices of thickly buttered bread
6 eggs
1pt milk
4 tablespoons sugar, more if you have a sweet tooth (use granulated sweetener if preferred)
2oz sultanas
Put the bread in the casserole in layers ie:
buttered slice, sprinkling of sultanas, sprinkling of sugar, repeat til you reach the top. Don't put any sultanas on the last layer cos they burn and go rock hard.
Beat the eggs and mix with the milk then slowly pour over the bread in the casserole. Press bread down so all the milk/egg gets soaked up.
Bake in oven at 200 degrees until golden brown on top.
Comes up like a souffle and tastes delicious.
Ideal for using up stale bread and surplus eggs. |

My favourite pudding of all time - made by my mum when we were young cos it was cheap but i'd rather have this than any other pud but has to have lots and lots of sultanas in |

Is this the sticky brown heavy one or is this the sloppy milky stuff?
I always get it wrong and end up with a bowl of white gunk at cafes and restaurant's...
I LOVE the heavy brown chewy stuff..... |

The Brown heavy one I know as Bread Pudding.
If Bread and Butter pudding is made correctly it shouldn't end up as a bowl of white gunk - obviously frequenting the wrong places |

| Yummy, my favorite hot pud. I like it with chopped dried apricots as well as the sultanas. |
