I think i have another problem with the chooks - as if we haven't been through enough already! Noticed yesterday a couple of chooks not looking quite right, picked one up and she sounded rattly so have put her in a ark on her own with Tylan in her water and some mixed corn to keep her eating. When i managed to catch the other chook, an 18 week old youngster, i saw that one eye is slightly swollen and she keeps shutting it so into another ark she has gone, again with Tylan and corn. I am afraid it may be Mycroplasma so was wondering if i should give Tylan to all the chooks just in case. I blame the weather, even with shelters and houses covered in tarpaulins the poor loves have been continually wet these past few weeks Crying or Very sad . I was hoping to source a couple of Barnevelder POLs this weekend but dare not bring any more in just now.

If it is mycoplasma all the birds will have it, so dose them all up. It's very infectious and once cured they will remain carriers of the disease and give it to any new hens you get.

Do I still keep the 2 that are showing signs separate from the others even if I'm dosing all of them? My 3 year olds, the start of my flock, were all bought from breeders who vacinated, the only ones not are those i have bred myself. I bred 10 pullets last year and 7 this year the 2 sick ones are one from each breeding. I did buy in 6 Lohmanns from vacinated stock but they have been separated for over 3 weeks now.
