I carried a large, white tarpaulin down the garden, to block of where the hens are laying out of the nest boxes, and some of the chicks ran scared. All, but Muppet, came back afterwards, and I think she is somewhere on the waste ground to the left of the coop and run, under very heavy brambles and undergrowth
I'm hoping she'll be safe there overnight and will be in the garden when I get up in the morning |

Hope she's safe and sound in the morning
Not that you'd get a good nights sleep anyway with this heat, but do hope you do
Enjoy Saturday Morning |

Found after a search at 8am, rescued from on top of a large, roll of very open wire, under massive brambles and nettles, I don't think she could move from it. Manage to pick her up (she doesn't like that) and brought her back up. her eye is very mucky, I will try and get some eye drops from the vet today, and we'll put them in at night when she's less flighty. Otherwise I think she's glad to be home as his her temp mother
Knobby will be pleased and has missed all the worry and drama |

Well done!
Oh, I'm so, so glad you found her safe & well! (apart from a mucky eye)
Poor little thing must have been terrified out in the big wide world overnight. I bet she's glad to be home!
I was dreading looking on here this morning in case it was bad news. |

| One of our neighbours on the plots has *gained* chickens. He tracked us down last night to see if we'd lost a couple of Light Sussex that ended up with his chickens. |

Good....happy news about Muppet!!!!!! Hope her eye clears up.
Stephen, did you 'lose' some hens? You never said if they were yours or not. At least they wandered to somewhere safe. |

| Nope, not ours. We've only one light sussex, and she's resolutely staying in the nestbox at the moment. |

I have Baytril from the vets, with instructions by phone to mix 0.08mls with 100mls and give for 5 days. Now, in my humble opinion, I believe he meant the above to be divided over 5 days, as often baytril dose is 0.02 mls? Any offers. I will be giving it over 5 days, as I cannot imagine how I will get 100mls of water into her from a syringe at one sitting
I will also bathe each evening with cold tea
Okay AR and George, I mean I will bathe HER EYE with cold tea before you turn all pervy
Although, bathing in cold tea each evening may do wonders for my ageing process as I believe it has (stuff, things, damn I can't remember) in it
ANTIOXIDANTS and I'm sure something to do with free radicals |
