| After my awful disaster last week my hubby has sourced 6 Barnevelder eggs for me to hatch without me knowing - in post as we speak from a friend of a friend - bless him. He doesn't know much about hatching, fertility etc... so hasn't asked any questions so we will wait and see. I'm not sure I'm ready to hatch any more Barnevelders right now, would have liked a couple of pullets, as I know i will be reluctant to put them out and frightened of the same thing happening - must get out and strongbox the whole run and coop! Haven't incubator hatched this late before so watch this space. Still interested in your eggs in the new year Chook-in-Eire, they were such beautiful, strong birds. |

Aww, that's a lovely thing to do.
I can appreciate how reluctant you feel though as the disaster with your Barnevelder growers was just awful. |

Know how you feel having lost all my this years keepers from my spring hatch. But if you fall off your horse etc etc.
A few people encouraged me to hatch again for the same reason and I now have 13 three day old chicks and am glad I allowed myself to be talked into it.
Good luck, Chris! |

| Now try to persuade somebody to go broody to foster them. My brooder arks all have netted bases and wheels fixed to the 'house' end for ease of movement, so even when the boar overturned them, the chicks were safe. |
