I know that cream legbars have both araucana and white leghorn in them but if you crossed them , they would obviously not be cream legbars, but would you get a good layer that lays blue eggs??
because that's what the cream legbars are supposed to be!!! |

| Cream legbars are Brown Leghorn x Barred Plymouth Rock (which eventually gives you Gold Legbar) then further crossed with white araucana to give the green/blue egg. Cross almost anything with an araucana and you'll get some shade of green egg as the colour is dominant. |

If you really want to have fun & produce autosexing Gold Legbars, try this:
Brown Leghorn M x Barred Plymouth Rock F. Cross the black barred males with brown leghorn hens, discarding all black unbarred pullets. Then cross the brown barred males with the brown barred pullets, discarding all black chicks, barred & unbarred and also the unbarred brown pullets. From the results of this cross you will get pure barred brown males (Legbars) and barred brown pullets (Legbars) discarding all impure barred brown males and unbarred brown pullets. As you will see, you need to start with several lines of pure bred birds to get that far, because the wastage is pretty high, and you need unrelated foundation stock. Quite how/when the araucana is introduced I haven't yet discovered - only that contrary to the widely held belief that it should be a black/red, it was a white that was used. |
