| Vaccinations are usually done in commercial flocks as they are exposed to more bugs and disease due to the quantity involved. Backyard flocks dont vaccinate birds as vaccines are usually in large quantites. |

| They dont need injections but you can worm them when theyre older and feed them on medicated chick feed |

| I remember you saying this before Mojo - but I have yet to find anyone (vets included) who are prepared to vaccinate the odd bird or two. Even vets have to buy the vaccines by the thousands and in most cases when a vial is opened the shelf-life is hours (not even days). What in particular are your birds vaccinated against - mareks, infectious bronchitis, salmonella, etc. etc. As you know I also live in France and have spoken to lots of people who show their birds and vaccinations before being permitted to show (for what??) certainly don't seem to be 'obligatoire'. How is the bird identified as being vaccinated - chipped (?). Perhaps you can point me in the right direction. Jan OH Richard |

| your avuiculture club will have full details.......they arrange it all.....it is a multi vaccine and you get a certificate stating closed ring number of vaccined birds...........so afraid you must check with local club...........or national association |

V.expensive. approx £10-£15 per vacine and there are 4 or 5 you could give them.
They're unlikly to come across any virus unless them mix with other infected birds |

| over here via the club each bird costs about £1 each.........well worth it for peace of mind......the area is very rural with lots and lots of migrant wild birds too |

It seems wrong that vaccines can only be brought in such large amounts
You'd think vets would have access single vaccines?
I'd love to get my chicknes vaccinated, after all we dont leave our other pets open to diseases they can be vaccinated against
Maybe local groups could arrange on mass vaccination days
Keep smilin

The problem is the vials are for thousands of doses, and if they tried to make smaller doses, it probably wouldn't be any cheaper!
When there was a Newcastles outbreak in the UK a few years back, and we were still in the UK, we did do ours to be on the safe side. We bought the vaccine from a company near Chesterfield. |

| We did ours for Newcastles a few years ago too, but managed to share the vaccine between 3 poultry owners as we all lived very close to one another. Once opened & mixed with water it had to be used within a very short time. |

Interhatch do some but they don't have a website.

They supply in 1000 doses & once opened & mixed, must be used within 2 hours. |
