Its still too thick i think, they don't use it anyway preferring to sleep in the box on the left of the 3 and the one that's laying now, lays in the middle one, and i don't put wood chips in the other, but it makes cleaning out very easy, all the poo is in the one they sleep in so i don't mind!! Wink my new cameo is in the next post

Dopey, that is a true work of art and you are a credit to the recycling campaign. I am inspired by what you have done!

brilliant job i need to make a couple . but i must warn you make the nest boxes darker or you will have eaten eggs . try some old hessian sack or carpet and slice down so it looks like strips . only suggesting i found out the hard way. once one starts they all have a go.

Fingers X so far its been ok, they get let out early in the day, then go back in to lay at about 10 am and come out as soon as they have laid (i say them) but HTL has just laid for the 1st time 2day, but she came out as soon as she laid too, so hopefully i wont get that problem, if i do i will do as you suggest

If the chap you got them from said they were RIR cross light sussex thats what they are, they're not Warrens, Warrens are a hybrid, RIRxLS is a cross breed.

If he said they're RIR and Light sussex, you'd have some red/brown chicken (RIR) and some white with black collars (light sussex)

RIRxLS is a good cross breed for eggs and meat, but he's wrong to tell you their Warrens. Warrens are intensive layers and bred specifically for that purpose and they have no light sussex in their breeding.
